Day 26 of Week 4 January 2024

The Pondering Crow

When Winter feels like Spring, my thoughts turn to garden planning. This year I want unusual flowers that grow well without grouchy at the weather episodes.
Parsley, Rosemary & Sage

The herb container garden will be the same, Rosemary, parsley, sage, oregano, basil, mint, and maybe thyme this year.

Last year the torenia did well. They will be back as the border flowers. I'm thinking of a light blue that likes partial shade. Bachelor's Buttons are good for full sun. I'm looking at Meconopsis aka Blue Poppy. For orange, Bright Lights Cosmos are the choice. The flower season 2024 will begin with pansies.

Have a Wonderful Winter Weekend!

Plan a garden
Browse online for cardigans
Draw a groups of sleds
Bake a pear cobbler
Start  a sleep & dream journal
Listen to a Tibetian Healing Flute
Have a hot toddie
Look in the mirror and tell yourself,
"You Are Beautiful!"

  1. What a wonderful post!! I have been thinking about my gardens I am downsizing some and fixing others I want more annuals this year. We don't take lavish vacations so I am spending this year on plants lol. I have not for the past several years and I miss the eye popping annuals around the perennials I have.
We just split a fresh pear for the fist time this season and it was so juicy and good. I have some blueberries just looking for a small cake.

  2. Cathy,
Have your tried blueberry buckwheat pancakes with real maply syrup and butter? It is like having cake.

  3. Our days of gardening outdoors are over as we live in a mill apartment with no common area outdoors. That said, we do plant some popular herbs in containers that are placed on the large living room window with the basics of parsley, basil, rosemary, It's not the same as growing them indoors, but at least better than using dried.

  4. hah - looking in the mirror and telling myself I'm beautiful would no doubt result in 7 years bad luck after the mirror fell off the wall laughing.

  5. I am constantly thinking of plants, but I am trying to keep a manageable amount as I age. I am dreaming of spring and all the things outside!

  6. Beatrice,
I agree with you, better than dried.
My parsley is still quite green despite frigid temperatures in the outer hall. I'm not sure if it is alive or not. I might bring it in at some point.

    Happy Weekend!

  8. Sandy,
Keyword, manageable rules keeping plants indoors. My spider plant apparently loves it in here. I feel bad wanting, say, share it with another home. lol

  12. Ashok,
Choosing the broken branch gives the best view.
The sky can look like clouds from below or clouds from above.

  14. I love that you think of gardening. I never think of gardening and have decided I love what others do -- just don't want to do it much myself! I suspect with the list you've shown, yours will be lovely.

  15. So nice that you are planning out your garden for Spring. I don't have a dream journal, but I do write down some of my dreams on notecards and tuck them away safely. Dreams sometimes have special meanings I believe. Oh, a hot toddie sure sounds good on this cold day.

  16. Jeanie,
This year, planting seeds indoors is going to be less than half what I usually try because doing that doesn't seem to work well for me.
Poppies I see in garden doing well every year. It is time I gave them a try.

  17. Sheri,
A dream journal isn't always easy for me to remember to write them down before they fade away. I had a nightmare after the New Hampshire primary. That's why I was thinking about it to add to the list.
    Happy Hot Toddie!
    I think I'll have one myself. :)
