Tree, Leaves & Snow 2024

At the moment here in western Vermont at just after 7 PM EDT, it is snowing at a good clip. The ground has about two inches of snow cover. Earlier, it felt like rain that changed to snow. The weather forecast is rain after 10 PM EDT. A warm font is moving in to wash winter away.
In the morning, with a 40ºF temperature forecast, road conditions might not be all that good as there may be spots where it is colder and icy.

Please Drive Safely

The winter landscapes today were beautiful. Tomorow I expect things will resemble early spring. Winter being winter.
This morning my tea got cold too fast after I took a too early sip, and burned part of my lower lip. I tend to try tea faster than I do a hot cup of coffee. I don't know why that is. It was so freezing cold this morning, I think it settled in my mind to warm up.

The Arches watercolor paper order from Dick Blick.com arrived today. It awaits measuring and cutting. I buy full 22 inch by 30 inch sheets because I can cut them to the sizes I want.
That all means the puttering pace will rev up tomorrow for the painting area to be organized. Right now there are clothes sorted and piled around.
I am anxious to paint watercolors most of this winter to ease out cabin fever. In years past I've created projects specfically for the purpose of not falling too far into a winter depression. Projects work only when I put effort into them.

How is your winter going?

  2. Kathy,
A snowy scene is a nice thing to see, especially if you don't have to go anywhere, but maybe sledding. :)

    Stay warm!

  3. We’re having snow now but it’s supposed to turn to rain! The wind is the problem here. Hope it’s not too bad there,

  4. We didn't seem to get the dire amounts of snow/rain/freezing rain that were predicted for yesterday (thankfully). The ground is frozen enough though that the rain just pooled everywhere causing hazardous hydroplaning driving conditions. Very glad the workshop I was supposed to teach was postponed.
btw - Boud posted about Emma Mitchell not too long ago and I got her book 'The Wild Remedy - How Nature Mends Us' from the library. It was a good read about how nature helps her with her depression. Filled with charming drawings too.

  5. We have a bit of snow -- I can see see grass peeking up but less than yesterday. I hate the snow/rain/freeze cycle -- it's scary out there on the roads, even when we are a used-to-winter state. Our weather has been so dry this year that this is almost the first time people have had to drive on it.

Can't wait to see your watercolors. I am hoping to start the coloricombo weekly challenges this week. That might get me into the groove. Other than that, absorbed in the Streisand book and deciding I really need to get things back in order in the basement! Happy week.

  6. Marie,
The heavy wind forecast here, I heard wind pick up in the early evening, then nothing much. I think I slept through it. Today it looks calm out there.

The thing about wind I don't like is being on ice and pushed.

  8. Jeanie,
Art challenges look like a lot of fun as well as good practice.
I found my watercolor palette with zero effort today. Amazing, it was right out in the open where it should be. I'll be splashing around after lunch.

  9. My winter is going very well, so far. The weekend snowfall was beautiful to watch from our apt windows. We enjoyed going outdoors on Monday to take in the first significant snowfall in nearly 2 years, about 15 inches ☃️ and it provided images for my first 2024 snow post. All that changed overnight on Tues when temps warmed up, rain came and today you would hardly know we had a major storm with temps in the mid 40s. I will look forward to seeing your watercolor paintings as the header one is lovely.

  10. Beatrice,
Your blog photos of your winter river walk are gorgeous. They are greeting card beautiful.

Speaking of water, after lunch and a watercolor, I'll be washing floors. It will be a watery day for me.

    Stay Warm!

  11. MA ~ has started off 'winter' with two major storms ~ one snow and wind and the next one rain and wind ~ Wind being the operative word ~ Excessive gusts up to 70 mph ~ didn't sleep and new generator is not working yet so hopefully it gets fixed before the next wild storm ~

I have been busy with house and walking my dog and doing my blog ~ try to create something each week ~ hopefully tomorrow ~ sigh.

Beautiful winter photo ~ thanks and hugs,

Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

We did get some stronger winds today, but they didn't last.

  14. What a lovely photo of the tree and snow. It snowed a little again here, and I'm sure more will come. I know what you mean about taking a sip of tea too early. I've done that before, and had bad results. Love your BIG font today.

I hope your snow stays, and doesn't get washed away by rain. Stay warm & cozy.

Thankfully, my recent sipped too soon mishap heals quickly. it's funny how the burn lands right at the best sipping place.
