Health & Sunshine Enjoyment

California Poppy Seedlings 2024

After my previous post, I've decided to lean towards health and fitness information and entertainment. What do I see the first I click on Health?

Information about women and heart attacks.

Thank you, just what I need to cheer me up, another caution about what could shorten my life. If I keel over this week from a heart attack, the headline can read:

Blogger nearly predicts demise, Watch for the Signs

Seriously, know the signs of a heart attack is important because it can save your life. Please don't wait and see. Call, report your symptoms and let the professional decide the next step. If you aren't satisfied with the information, then get a 2nd opinion. 911 may be your solution.

Symptoms of a Heart Attack

Right off, I, once again, decide to put effort into being outdoors more to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. I use sunscreen as well as an umbrella as a parasol. Speaking of which, this year I need to find a new umbrella for walking as what I have are old or too dark.
For my health, aside from a good diet, enough sleep, exercise is crucial to being healthy, mind and body. So far, I've lost 3 pounds. Keeping it off means telling the lemon sandwich cookies...No!
Creating my own trail mix can take care of cravings for sweets. Mixing up a flavored water will also help in that regard. Adding more veggies and being creative with salads is also a goal.

What is your favorite exercise for sunshine? For rainy days? Do you mix your own trail mix? Flavored water?

  1. So good of you to go outdoors and get some sunshine for awhile. Your trail mix sounds Yummy and a good idea to make it yourself. It's so pricey at the stores. I hope the California poppies bloom for you soon. Now is the time when they sprout up along the edges of the creek. They are such a pretty sight.

    Happy April!

    1. Sheri,
The poppies won't be in the ground until mid May. We can get snow here in April. It is in the forecast for this week.
I'll be transplanting the seedlings this week to their go in the ground jiffy pots.

Happy April to you as well!

  2. Flavoured water is a good way to enjoy a treat without many calories. Good for you for being firm with that Lemon Sandwich Cookie. I try to tell myself that I am stronger the cookie. Alas, sometimes the cookie wins out.
I like walking outdoors, and gardening.

    1. Lorrie,
Being stronger than the cookie is a fun way of looking at it.

Nasty weather here today combined with blahs, the trail mix ingredients will have to wait for another
shopping day. There are 2 store to shop, one for good prices, and the other for variety.
A feta and walnut crumbles is my new topping for salads and baked potato...better than a cookie.

  3. We don't make trail mix but RC does make our own granola which is practically the same thing. He makes cookies that are primarily granola in a cookie form and cuts way down in the sugar content so we can indulge in one now and again without feeling too bad.

    1. Maryanne,
      Homemade granola sounds wonderful.
I'll be hunting down good coconut oil. I'm not sure on adding a sweetner though.

  4. I do not make or even buy trail mix so can offer no comment on homemade or otherwise. I will confess to buying Crystal Light to flavor water which in turn will have me drink more. I use one packet to flavor twice as much as is recommended. I will look forward to outdoor walks once winter is done. We're currently having a spring nor'easter as you are most likely experiencing as well.

    1. Beatrice,
Natural herbs, fruits and such are what I have to use.
Crystal Light has aspartame, an allergy aggravator for me.

  5. It's always nice to enjoy a walk in the sunshine.
However, we have a lot of rain at the moment and went out the other day and ended up rather wet!!!
It was lovely to get back home and enjoy a nice cup of tea :)

    All the best Jan
