Oh the Tree Pollen Blues

Red Yarrow
May 2024

Much has been slow around here, me especially. Tree pollen is heavy. Thus, my allergies are raging. Over the counter medicine wipes me out. I only take it at night when I will not be going anywhere. Still, it has me dragging when I wake up. Last night I fell asleep, actually watching television.
Up at 3 AM, I puttered to start the day early. Waiting for the kitchen floor to dry, I dozed off. When I awoke a few hours later, I thought it was the afternoon, not 7:30 AM!

Anyway, light thunderstorms passed right over here last night. The TV antenna lost the signal a few times. I'm fully awake now catching up on blogging, plants, and housework.

For no reason that I've figured out, I'm in a slump. Pulling out of it has been a two week process. I've slowed down being online except for Twitter/X. Watching YouTube videos doesn't even interest me. When this happens, it feels like having an emotional cold, nothing but blah and meh days. I can laugh, feel bad, feel good, get things done, but it all takes deliberate effort with long stretches of nothing but sitting in a chair thinking.

The sunshine this week helps lift my spirits. Changing my routine also places me on a better pathway to moving more, feeling better, and eating better.

How is your week going?

  2. Our week is actually going quite well, except that the pollen bother's Patrick's allergies too. We are on a road trip and currently in Prince Edward Island, Canada, where the weather is very tolerable at about 70 degrees. And, the area is also free from a lot of tourists going through as the season has not fully started, so that is a good thing. Hope you will be feeling more energetic with perhaps a bit more rest.

I hope y'all have a chance to see blogger Marie. She posts the most gorgeous photographs of PEI.
      Happy Travels!
Slept well last night. Taking it easy indoors today. No allergy medicine is nice.

  3. The weather here has warmed up considerably but so far the humidity level has been bearable. Two thunderstorms yesterday and I hope they aren't a harbinger of things to come. We still haven't gotten our car repaired from the storm last August although we finally have a date for them to do half of the repairs (which 'half' we don't know) but not until Aug. 20th, more than a year after the storm. We live in trepidation that there will be another storm which will cause a complete nightmare with insurance.

    1. Maryanne,
Prayers the car insurance situation goes smoothly. They are so known for being horrible to deal with.

  4. Moving is a good remedy for slumps. It's hard to get going, but so worth it.

    1. Liz,
That is the truth, moving is a good remedy!
The problem lately is that at 3 AM, I'd rather be sleeping than wide awake. lol
I'm going to have small tasks lined up tonight just in case.

    1. Carol,
You've made a good observation there.
A favorite blog I've been reading for over ten years, has become less interesting, even boring at times. They branched out to a paid subscription e-magazine. I'm guessing their focus is there instead of the blog. Not always a good move for a business to do that because readers can feel slighted as well as disinterested.
I wonder if the slumping has to do with the alingnment of the planets.
      Hugs!

  6. Sorry you're in a slump. Spring is not my favorite season, as there is too much yard work to do, and the grass and weeds and plants grow wild this time of year. I'm more of a Fall and Winter person. But spending some time outdoors in the sunshine and nature is always beneficial. Maybe you can try that to lift the spirits. This is a beautiful photo you have taken. The weather here is cold, then warm, then cold. We're supposed to get some rain at the end of the month.

    1. Thank you, Sheri. It means a lot to be appreciated.
I sit outdoors at least once a day. Yesterday though, it took effort as even in the shade, it was hot and a bit stuffy.
There's a lot to do indoors switching over from winter to summer, moving furniture, putting in the A/C, and such.
Thunderstorms have rolled over us a few times this week.
      Have a pleasant weekend

  7. Interrupted sleep always makes me feel dopey and dull. Sunshine livens me up, especially if I can be out in the garden. We've had such cool windy weather lately. I'm sorry for your seasonal allergies, and hope you soon feel back to your normal self.

    1. Lorrie,
All the rain the other day washed some pollen out of the air.
It felt good not needing allergy medicine.
      Have a wonderful weekend
