What's Been Going On?
The Summer Hat |
A recent slump has left me out of blogging this last week.
Caving in to installing an air conditioner was rough. I just did not want to bother with it. The heat and humidity kept pushing and pushing me to stop with the 80ºFahrenheit indoor temperatures. With the air conditioner cranking out cool air, I sleep and feel better.
Puttering and gardening has kept me busy when I am up to moving around. I discovered during one particularly hot and humid day, that wearing a sundress is much better than shorts and a tee shirt. After a couple of trips to the thrifts, I've added 4 dresses in my closet of one.
During the A/C installation, despite having a tool box, I had to look for a screw driver! In the hunt for, I found a folder of art supplies for sketching outdoors. I open the sketchbook...2016! Where have I been!? More art excursions this summer are a must. The plan is plein air downtown, walking distance, picnic lunch or at a local restaurant.

I wear skirts in summer for the same reason, much cooler. You do need to sleep, and if cool does it, that's the way to go.
ReplyDeleteLiz,
DeleteYes for skirts.
I added a couple from the spring rummages sales. They need to be hung up where I can see them.
You’re busy which is good in my book. Take care and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteMarie,
DeleteA good week to you as well!
Busy is good for sure. Plants won't wait for rain. There have been forecasts where the rain
passed us by.
That's a good idea to add a little milk to dry coleslaw. Root beer floats with coffee ice cream! - that sounds amazing. That's impressive that you installed the a/c by yourself. Sorry your arm is sore because of it. It will be nice to have cool air in this Summer heat. How fun to shop at the thrift store. No thrift stores here, but we do have an antique shop that is fun browsing through.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week, my friend. : )

Sheri,
DeleteI love your blog photographs of roses.
The A/C felt heavier than ones in the past. Maybe it is me out of shape.
This one works better than the one last year. I had to break the front grill to get the filter out
because it was stuck on a wire thing.
I'm glad you have a way to stay cool now. I can stand some heat during the day but I love to sleep with it cool. Enjoy! And enjoy those floats!
ReplyDeleteDiane,
DeleteYour sink hole hike was a real treat to read.
Have a wonderful week!
Skirts and dresses are often cooler in the warmer/hot weather.
ReplyDeleteGood that you've got some more.
All the best Jan
Jan,
DeleteIt is amazing how long it has been since I wore a dress.
After the plants are all in, I will be wearing skirts more.
Good grief, with a week like that I would be away from blogging much longer. I can't believe it was warm enough in Vermont that you needed a sundress and used the terms "hot," "humid" and "air conditioner." Will you please send some to Michigan?
ReplyDeleteJeanie,
DeleteIt has cooled here in Vermont. I had to wear my vest with pockets to the store.
The nice breeze cools things even more.
Sunshine will reach y'all there soon.
Even though it took some effort to get the AC set up, sleeping comfortably is well worth it as you learned. Hope the arm is feeling better. The summer hat is lovely.
ReplyDeleteBeatrice,
DeleteSleeping is much improved. I not don't wake up every few hours.
Arm is better, but still sore. Last night I had high up things to deal with. That was ouch time.
Have a nice evening
I thought sure I'd commented on this -- and maybe you just haven't moderated. Or possibly, I didn't hit publish. Anyway, I think I asked if you could send a little of that heat our way! You've been so busy, no wonder you weren't online! Well done, May. A rootbeer float sounds good!
ReplyDeleteJeanie,
DeleteI do moderate comments. Sometimes, I reading other blogs, I forget to read my own. lol
I always wear long dresses and skirts in the heat because they're way cooler than shorts. Our a/c unit hasn't been installed yet this year. We have to use a portable unit because the building management doesn't allow window versions (no doubt for fear they fall on the unwary beneath us).
ReplyDeleteMaryanne,
DeleteI almost bought a floor indoor A/C unit this year.
I opted for the 5000 BTU easy to handle instead.
Window A/Cs do drip. That's probably why they aren't allowed.
