Bird Sighting: Carolina Wren

Carolina Wren
February 2025 Vergennes, Vermont

Would you look at that!

A first time sighting of a Carolina Wren is quite exciting. There were a few of them there scurrying around at the birdseed.

That is the best photo I have. When I set up the camera to hide my movements, they were nowhere to be seen. Birds.

  1. Wonderful catch! I kept hearing one in the trees outside our building last summer but could never spot him/her. I'm pretty sure they nested in the tree but they're so tiny. Powerful voices though for something that small!

    1. Maryanne,
Song sparrows have a big voice as well. It will be nice to hear the Carolina Wren singing.

    2. If you want to hear them, try googling. I've done that and found really good sound 'bites'.

  2. Birds are so hard to photograph. Time and patience are never enough.

    1. Marie,
Birds seem to have camera ready radar. 🤣

  3. Sweet bird. Someone identified my bird that visited as a Rufous Sided Towhee. There were many of them on my back porch area recently just frolicking in the snow. : )
