Geraniums, Sandwiches & Whatnot

Written yesterday and scheduled to publish today…

Geraniums are in my top ten flowers for the garden and to give as a gift. The small seed geranium at Walmart won my heart after I told myself not to buy more plants. I love the variegated leaves. It will go between the Artemisia and red yarrow in the large deck planter that’s in full sun.

Monday’s shopping weather was overcast with an eerie haze, not a day I cared to do gardening. Upon returning home, I sat on the porch and read emails and wrote some blog comments after I finished my sandwich. The wind was perfect and soothing.

I had stopped in Hinesburg to buy the favorite deli case sandwich. There are places that even if the food is from the same maker, taste better than other stores. The same goes for a BLT sandwich, there’s always a favorite to buy from.
🥪
Up early, I have been yawning all day, Late afternoon, I finally had a short and refreshing nap. (However, I’m still yawning.) Monday doesn’t vibe as a nap day. Like sandwiches from a deli, each day of the week has its own personality.
🗓️

None of them stand out from the others. If I had to choose a favorite day, then it would be Thursday. There is no major jackpot lottery, (Powerball, Mega millions, Tri-state Megabucks), draw in Vermont that night.
No nagging feeling when the jackpot is high that I forgot to buy a ticket. I would so like the lottery to better design jackpots and/or prize structures. Once it builds to 100 million, then give it a rest until it is won.

  1. Jackpots here are limited to 80 million now. That ceiling has been increased recently.

The haze here is the smoke from western Canada.

      Prayers for no more wildfires
A jackpot limit is a good thing.

  2. I have a love/hate relationship with geraniums. My mother grew them all the time and over-wintered them in the house. Every windowsill was full of them and she would always decide that Sunday mornings were the best time to prune them. They stink. And she always, without fail, would wait until I was trying to eat my breakfast, knowing full well the smell was something I hated. She, on the other hand, had no sense of taste or smell so it didn't bother her.
As for huge lotteries, I don't know why they don't break those numbers up into a ton of smaller wins so a lot more people would be happy.

      Maryanne,
I agree, it is puzzling why the lottery doesn’t give more people a chance to win.
The guest bedroom where I slept temporarily recovering from a trauma, parents wintered their geraniums on a table there. The geranium smell in those very sunny windows made it hard for me to breathe. Mother refused to move them. I asked her if she is my real mother.
I like geraniums for the good memories.

  3. I love geraniums too. They're quite forgiving and seem to go well with so many other plants and flowers too. And what a great variety of colors!

      Jeanie,
      Good point.
It is nice that geraniums don’t get cranky missing a watering.

  5. Geraniums are a classic flower. This one is so pretty and vibrant in color. Interesting that Thursday is your favorite day. I am starting to love Sundays now. No appts. or schedules or bills to pay. A day of peace.
