Mid January Digging In With Art

Alas, on this mid January sunny day, here I go again sorting through portfolios. To my credit, it is evident that past portfolio sorting decreased the number of watercolors that went nowhere. I am pleased how few there are to finish.

The watercolor (photo below) is the one I’ve chosen to finish. It is from a photograph taken circa 2010.

No print out of the photo is attached. It would take me hours if not days to find the photograph. I believe the tree is gone as well.

Old watercolor in progress

    1. Debbie,
Thank you. I am glad there’s enough there to work from. And, I have plenty of squirrel photos to reference. 😂

  3. Even without the original photo, the watercolor stands beautifully on its own now.
    Love it.

    1. Veronica,
Thank you. Good point. The background building is going to have a light metal blue gray wash, fade back for the tree to stand out.

  4. It's fun seeing your art in progress. And yes, a photo is a reference but now it is art.

    1. Jeanie,
Thank you. This year carries over the goal to enlarge a photo to frame and hang on a wall. Not easy to choose one,

    1. Debra,
Thank you. The best teacher of watercolors is the water. Put color and a brush to paper is like riding a bike, balance, control and getting where you want to go.

    1. Linda,
Thank you. I was too distracted and exhausted to paint yesterday looking for my jigsaw on another project. Today is the day to paint.

  8. I think I would have a hard time picking up a project after so long being in time out. It's going to be fun watching this progress to a finish.
