A Midsummer’s Night Celebration

Day 2 of June, thinking about the summer solstice on 21 June 2026, I also think of how to celebrate one of my favorite special days, Midsummer’s Night, 19 June 2026.

🧚🧚🧚🧚🧚

🧚Make a crown with real flowers or faux blooms. The fabric one can be saved and hung later on a door hanger. Wear the crown during events. A selfie is a must.

🧚Fix a large platter of hors d’oeuvres paired with a delicate white wine.

🧚Watch the 1935 movie first, and then watch the 1968, 1999 or the 2016 film version of William Shakespeare’s, “Midsummer’s Night Dream. Or make it a marathon to watch all four.

🧚Read Shakespeare’s play aloud.

🧚Dance to one of the film’s sound tracks.

Invite friends, love ones, do a solo or with a partner.

  1. That's my favorite Shakespeare play! I love the idea of a Midsummer celebration!

    1. Jeanie,
Midsummer is perfect for a wine party. It is a mystery to me why the day and night isn’t celebrated more. The 1935 film is magical as well.

  2. I suppose I should add to my literary education by reading Shakespeare but I can't seem to wrap my head around the language. I guess I would understand it better if I simply forced myself to immerse into reading his plays but then I remember that there's so much other good reading out there. Tried watching a movie version once (can't remember which it was now) and same thing - my attention wandered in short order.

    1. Maryanne,
The 1993 film of Shakespeare's play, “Much Ado About Nothing,” is one of the easiest to follow. And it is a funny movie well acted.
