Day 48 of 2023

An Icy Morning It Be

Inspiration to write poetry slides in with the ice on day 48 in the 7th week of 2023. Outdoors looks rainy, but closer you can see an icy covering. The thermometer at 32°F (0°C) tells it all.*

There is one more full week of February left. A short month, it feels slower to this blogger than the 31 day sprint of January. How we process the time is an interesting subject.

  1. Chilly, here, too, but not freezing. Brighter skies make me feel brighter. Counting my spools of thread might take a very long time!
    Enjoy your weekend.

  3. Lorrie,
Counting spools of thread, I have the feeling, the total might surprise us. I remember the days when a fabric store had a 5/$1.00 bin.

  4. Marie,
Icy days are spicey tea days.

Outdoors here is covered in icy white. I might scoot over to the dumpster in my sled.

  5. I think February always seems much longer than January as well. It is in my mind I suppose, but somehow I know January is cold and made for home tasks. I sort of set myself in that mode, but being from the Deep South, February can give you a taste of spring one day and cold the next so it sort of taunts you. I am ready more this year than most, so I am trying to settle my days and not rush them away. I am going to tackle a few sitting down sorting projects today.
And as for blogging, why do we question ourselves so much? All of us do it and yet for the most part it has been the friendliest place on the Internet to mingle and see a wee bit of life in the remainder of the country. We are definitely in a negative phase these days. It is almost like people have forgotten how to look at the bight side of life. I am in that place too. I am constantly stopping myself after reading something or listening to the news and readdressing my thoughts to better things. I can't fix the world, but I remind myself I can adjust my thoughts and try to do something to make my day a bit brighter. Your lists are that ---reminders to keep it In the middle of the road. Have a good weekend and keep blogging.

  6. Thoughtful comment, Sandy

Sorting things is what February is turning out to be here. One cabinet clear out can bring lovely change to one's life.

  8. Carol,
As long as the window isn't facing neighbors. :)

  9. Sing to a window... Reminds me - when I was a kid I sometimes would sing into the fan of the outside air conditioning unit. It was a big box with a big fan and my voice would warble as I sang into it. Great fun! I imagine the neighbors were entertained for a bit, too.

  12. No ice here. It might get to low 60's today. And Thursday, low 70's!
I like chai tea, but haven't had any in a while.
Cherry cobbler is delicious, but I made chocolate cake last night.
