Oatmeal & Sweet Tea

Sweet Tea

Puttering has been filling my days. I'm not sure what it says about a person to have so many buttons and spools of thread in different places. Busy and distracted are words I think fit.

A quick sew on a button. Put thread away some place. Dash out the door. The thread builds up in a junk drawer subduction zone. Eventually, a tizzy erupts searching for it. The puttering phase levels upheavals to a calm and carry it back to where it belongs.

I guess my blog lost a button.
Ergo, I rest.
Had oatmeal with dry fruit and sweet tea for breakfast.
Back to posting March first.

  2. I like sweet tea, and your closeup photo. Haven't had oatmeal in a little while, been making grits more lately.
Have a nice weekend, and a good rest!! As soon as I finish the eggplant parmesan dish that will be for dinner, I'll be taking one too. ;)

  8. Sweet Tea always sounds good to me. When Nel lived in Georgia, they always made Sweet Tea. Oatmeal is so good also. I usually put raisins or nuts or bananas in mine. ; ) So, did you decide to post once a week?

  9. William,
As mother reminded me of the saying when I was a kid, oatmeal sticks to your ribs. Funny, thinking it really did act like a neck scarf.

  10. Hena,
Sweet tea has lots of sugar for a not an every day drink.

  11. Marie,
It feels like spring. At 5 PM EDT, it is a thrill to see that it is still daylight out.

  12. Sheri,
Once a week is an option I can do at times.
I have 2 posts scheduled for next week. Scheduling posts feels like a good change. Instead of posting as ideas flow, I can edit a scheduled post. It feels like posting without publishing, multiple times. Time is free to read and comment on other blogs.

  15. Loree,
Dark chocolate chips in oatmeal sounds wonderful!

    Jan,
Puttering is more relaxing than taking care of tasks bulldozer style.

  17. I just got caught up with your blog I cannot for the life of me figure out how to follow you. I do hope you continue to blog, but it always must be when you feel like it. I have been blogging 13 years and lots have changed but I still love this little bloggy world. I do not eat much oatmeal, but I do love it. I am off to make some raspberry bars I cleaned out the drawer in my freezer and low and behold frozen raspberries I picked last year. We are in for a storm so they will be a cozy treat. and they do have oatmeal in them!

  18. Oh there is nothing like a good bowl of oatmeal especially if winter is knocking at the door. Hope you are having fun puttering...I enjoy doing it from time to time. Take care and have a great start to March. Hugs!
P.S. sorry to read that you don't see pussy willows in your area anymore. They are not as plentiful here either. I just happen to have an old bush that keeps growing strong.

  19. Like yourself, I too have a collection of buttons and threads, not to mention assorted needle sizes. The only way for me to “corral” them is to use a dedicated container and then it’s somewhat easier, but not always, to locate a needle and thread. Sweet tea was a popular Southern favorite when we lived in VA.

  20. Carol,
Craisins plump up in hot oatmeal for a nice addition to bluberries.

  21. Cathy,
The Follow feature publishes followers. For security reasons, I don't post that gadget. I believe people use those follower lists for bad reasons as in find targets to scam.

Snowing here this morning. Spring in 3 weeks. :)

  22. Debbie,
It is weird pussywillows aren't as numerous as they use to be. Once you could drive country roads to see clumps of them everywhere. The sawmp near parent's old place had 3 that are all gone now.

  23. Beatrice,
You are right, corraling them is good.
The buttons were in a few containers in addition to various other places. There's enough to put them in one shoe box instead.
I saw on a Magpie's Mumblings blog a link to a purse covered with buttons. I have now a plan. :)

  24. I've been puttering too, and feel inordinately (and inappropriately) proud when I complete the most mundane of tasks!

  25. Jeanie,
    Celebrate your Proud!
Finishing even a small task, I'll go back to admire what I've done. :)
