Outdoors ETA is mid May. I started seeds early because I want flowers earlier than last year's flowers.
The seedlings are in a south facing window. They are very intent on leaning toward light. One dismal day, that night they turned towards my reading lamp.

Spring cleaning..
I pulled lots out to sort and down size. It was a mess. The stage of take out summer, put away some winter, reorganize, move furniture, is progressing well. It is the joyful stage when a mess transforms into a well organized space, with a full donation box as a bonus.

Slow going makes for better organizing.
It's nice that you are going through things and organizing. That's always a good feeling. I have been doing this as well. And sometimes moving furniture around and decorating brings us a little joy and smiles.

The library here wants newer titles readers can buy. I'm guessing lower value book collecting flattened with ebook popularity.
I planted some pumpkin seeds to see what they might do as an indoor vine and they're doing the same thing. I guess we all, plant and human alike, turn towards the sun.
ReplyDeleteI've never spring cleaned per se, taking a page from my mother who didn't either. Her urge to purge (which she called T-10...short for 'throw it out') always happened in January. New year, new outlook I suspect. I seem to follow her lead.

ReplyDeleteWe are visiting in the country and my husband carried his little seed pots with us back and forth from city to country and will carry them BACK to the city!!
Oh look at those beautiful little seedlings grow.
ReplyDeleteI planted some seeds - snapdragons and echinacea - using a process called winter sowing. They are in plastic milk jugs outside. Some have sprouted but they are awfully slow to grow. I might start some zinnia seeds indoors, as, like you, I want earlier blooms!

ReplyDeleteEvery year in grade school there was a seedling exercise, blotter lined see through glass jar in the middle filled with moist paper towels, and a bean seed next to blotter and glass. We could watch the seed grow.

ReplyDeleteSnapdragons reseed themselves in the yard. I was amazed because at this northern latitude I didn't expect an annual to reseed like they have. The pale yellow snapdragons are the only color that show back up.
A friend of mine has started various vegetables inside and they are doing well. My husband will probably have a small tomato and pepper garden, possibly some herbs (at least basil), but not until later this spring when he can plant outside.

ReplyDeleteYes to basil! I like to add fresh on my sandwiches. Rosemary and curly parsley is also a must have.
Your seedlings look very healthy. I haven't started anything-probably won't this year.

It is also nice to make one trip to a garden center.
