Blogcation Is Over

Rain Clouds in June

Green dust in the air coating everything puzzles to me as to why now? The trees are all in bloom, no flowers.

Ah, an Internet search tells me pine pollen is the likely source, but it is not a major allergy aggravator. Other flowers and birch trees may be the problem. Good to know because I like pine trees.  And, cursing the correct source doesn't waste good karma.

Rain washes pollen out of the air. However, lightening might split pollen grains. Thus, thunderstorms can increase allergy and asthma symptoms.

On my short blogcation, tissue and I have been companions. Notebook paper is also a bestie as I have begun to write my summer story.  Instead of an adventure, I write a story each summer to create friends I don't have (in real time), in a place I want to live with an interesting community.

Nice here, but the downtown is small, open spaces limited or not large enough for a good walk, busy big rig traffic through center of city. An alternate route has been in the planning/study stage for over 20 years. I'm embarrassed to even think about the dragging feet thing.

Editing the novel I began 2 years ago plus, is ongoing. My poetry is back in action as well. I've been brain storming names for a new poetry blog as well as hunt for an easy template. Wix may be my destination for a poetry blog.

Sadly, my exercise bike is covered again with clothes. A solution, establish a morning routine.  Thus, try, try again is in the triple digits stage.

On the good side, I lost 5+ pounds, on purpose. Happy dance.

Being outdoors has been limited by rain, and my energy. When I plan to have lunch outdoors, the food is gone by the next morning. Hot sunny weather brings more folks outdoors for what I feel is a safer environment.

Next Wednesday, 21 June 2023, will be the first day of summer. Midsummer Eve is 23 June 2023. Midsummer is the 24th.

Are y'all ready for summer?

P.S.

I got Wordle in 2 tries today!

  2. That's great that you lost five pounds, it's not easy. The marigolds are pretty. I see you have your art supplies out. It's a good hobby. It's always nice to be back to blog land.

  3. Marie,
PEI weather is almost like Vermont as we share a close geographical area. One hot day and then damp and chilly.
Good for less A/C, but not for being ourdoors.

  4. Sheri,
A key to doing artwork, I've discovered, is to move the laptop off the desk. Somehow, the clear desk inspires me. :)

I increased my protein intake for a better balance with the carbs. That helps get the pounds off. Oh, and less bread.

  7. Resident Chef has washed the car three times so far trying to keep the green dust at bay. It seems worse this year than ever before, so obviously not good for allergies. Still cool here (had 48 hrs. of fairly heavy much-needed rain) and everything is growing very slowly. Normally we have strawberries by now, but not this year.

  8. Maryanne,
Good to know Resident Chef can get out and about. I agree it is worse this year.
I went to the car wash once the green stuff was so bad, sticky dots not easy to wipe away.

Heavy rain here today with thunderstorms.

  9. Sounds like a great blogcation except for the pollen and such. But a fun and productive one. Well done with the writing! And with the five pounds!

  11. I haven't done Wordle in a long time and I love it! It's been too hot to eat outside here but I'm getting in some hikes so I'm a happy camper! Love that you are writing! I need to get creative!

  13. Diane,
Your photographs are very creative. The are one of the best things about Florida! I hope you get back to doing Wordle.

I started doing Wordle early in the day, often after midnight, to make sure my brain has exercise. Last week, despite not posting, I had a horrid week of missing words or having a 5.

  14. William,
    Yay for some rain!
Needed rain here as well. Not just for the flowers, to replenish the aquifer as well.

  15. Welcome back and while i have only been away for last weekend, it seems you have been a nice time away and I will look forward to catching up on your recent posts. It seems that taking time off for even a short weekend means catching up takes longer, but then there is no rush needed.

  16. Beatrice,
Returning to Instagram, one of the celebrities I follow, now has 3 children!
    I'd laugh if I wasn't so stunned.
