Hello June!

Vermont has been blessed with some perfect days this May.

June arrives with heat as the forecast reads today, Hot, as in the 90s°F (32°C).

Sitting in the shade by Otter Creek is cool and relaxing. I didn't stay long because it was time to go.

When there are people around, being outdoors feels safer to me.  We should always be aware of our surroundings no matter how many folks are around. A long walk on a deserted beach may sound lovely, but not quite safe.

That day I was alone after another visitor left. Then another arrives. Despite a near empty parking lot,  in a space marked for trucks with trailors, (boat ramp area), the visitor parks right next to me. Not a cool thing to do. I left, taking my better safe than sorry attitude with me.

This summer I pray for the end to the violence in our communities.

When out and about, please don't be alone in lonely places. Always tell others  where you are going, and when you will return. Read up on hot weather safety. Be prepared for the unusual from stubbing your toe to worse.

Never
Leave Children or pets
in a hot car...double check before you walk away!

Have a Safe Summer!

  1. Some heat here too, but apparently relief by Saturday.

  2. I find it creepy when someone parks right next to me when there are plenty of open spaces. Yes. Likewise coming to sit close on a deserted beach, I leave right away.

  3. Stay cool, William
    Glad Saturday will be cooler.

  4. Liz,
You are smart to do that.

Parking like that is aggressive behavior that should always raise a red flag. Same for too close when there is abundant space to chose.

  5. We must always be aware of our surroundings! Sad but true!

  6. Marie,
    More aware than ever.
    Have safe & happy weekend

  7. It's 31C here at the moment - I don't mind the heat but not so fussy when it gets humid as it's starting to do. Resident Chef installed our portable a/c unit this afternoon so now he's comfortable in the living room. I have a tower fan and the ceiling fan in my sewing room and find it quite comforable.
I wouldn't be comforable being alone anywhere like that either - I don't even want to walk along our river despite there always being people around. We have a large homeless encampment on the other side of the river as well as a few living in a wooded area just north of us, so I do my walking indoors just in case.

  8. Maryanne,
A solution is to have a walking and/or exercise group. Alas, most people I know that want to walk, have to wait until they have the energy. For me, a stationary exercise bike works.

  11. Some good advice here, and Yes, don't like to see dogs or pets left in a hot car, and never should a child be left in a hot car, that makes me upset when that happens.

  12. I would have left too, I imagine. That does sound aggressive. At best, completely thoughtless. I'm glad you got a picture of the lovely looking water.

  13. Sheri,
Crime reports here, not unusual to read a report of a pet left in a car. Grocery stores have big warning signs at entrance.
    Fines should be a deterrent.

Love for the child breaks the heart why it ever happens they are forgotten.

  15. It never used to be like that, did it? I miss the safer days.

  16. Jeanie,

Safer days, I am sure, will eventually return...
Once we are all measured for a Kevlar suite and helmet.
