Day 328 of Week 47 of November 2023
Maple Leaves & Rain December 2018 |
Should we think of ourselves in terms of cyber years? Think dog years where in comparison one dog year is 7 human years. The last 5 years for me have gone by as if in one year. In cyber years, if I add up the about 20 years years I've been online, I'm in barely in my fifties.
It's no wonder that the new 70 is the 60s. In other words, could it be that the longer we are on the Internet, the slower we are aging?
The new fad for shorts (videos on YouTube, Tik Tok) feels like the new neighborhood of sitting on porch in the afternoon to catch up on everyone's news, and talk about what is going on around town and the World, a dash of community via cyber space.
Have a refreshing weekend!
Love the photo! It could/should be fodder for a painting.
ReplyDeleteI agree that time is passing far faster than can be believed. It's hard to wrap my head around the fact that isn't nearly Christmas again and I still haven't recovered from the previous one.
Odd you should mention building a cardboard bird house - recently saw something online about kids doing that and then rolling them in birdseed and hanging outdoor for the birds. Don't remember what they used to 'stick' the seed on though...perhaps peanut butter?
Maryanne,
ReplyDeletePeanut butter or honey maybe.
A cereal box is enough cardboard for a few birdhouse oranaments.
I think last summer not starting because of all the rain, that wait for warm dry weather made the months a blur. That's why Christams feels so soon, too soon.
I’ve never gotten into Tik Tok though my husband uses it. I figure I spend enough time on screen as it is.
ReplyDeleteMarie,
ReplyDeleteGood decision. Save yourself, those short reels can be addictive, taking hours of your time.
On the bright side, lots of laughs.
i have recently done a few of these. very pretty picture of the leaves, autumn leaves are so colorful!!
ReplyDeleteI am not on tic tok but Instagram sucks up more time than I care to admit.
ReplyDeleteI pray for peace hourly the news hurts my soul.
I took a nice long walk yesterday and thought about more crafting ideas.
It's been a nice few days
Cathy
Debbie,
ReplyDeleteLeaves have a lot of personality, and look really good in digital photos.
Have a lovely weekend
Cathy,
ReplyDeleteIt is good to ready you've had a few nice days. I hope the entire year is as nice.
It is a surprise that Instagram is still going strong.
I read there's a new platform on the Internet. I think I put it out of my mind because there are too many that are the same company.
You just might be onto something there! We do not Tic Tok but we do watch YouTube shorts. Love that picture.
ReplyDeleteI only do blogging no other social media places. I found them to be very boring and repetitive. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteJim & Barb,
ReplyDeleteJoining Tik Tok, you can see the shorts on Facebook without joining.
Bill,
ReplyDeleteGood point. The short reels do have a repetative side. There's far too many staged videos. The only repetative videos I like are the animals, except for the multitude of abandoned pets found on the side of the road or struggling out in the ocean.
Interesting thoughts. I just learned that I at 72 is a Young Elder and Tony,my hubby,at 84 is an Old Elder.Medical terms I think. I don't feel any differently than when I was 62 and nothing has changed health wise so I am very grateful every single day for that. I know we are thinking differently about aging. Both my grandmothers, though well, sat a lot at my age as if it was their due. But one thing I know, time is speeding up, LOL.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely photograph.
ReplyDeleteWe had a very nice dry, sunny day today ... it was very enjoyable to get out and enjoy a local walk.
Have a good weekend.
All the best Jan
Jocelyn,
ReplyDeleteMind over the years, I also don't feel older.
Jan,
ReplyDeleteGetting outdoors makes a world of difference enjoying the indoors.
There's something weird about aging and time flying. It really does. And I don't like it.
ReplyDeleteJeanie,
ReplyDeleteYou aren't alone.
Aging is my least favorite biological process.
