Looking Forward to Summer

Summer Sun Umbrella

Images as well as thoughts of summer can make spring rainy days go by smoother.

Ages ago, more than once, I set about to train myself to only use one fork, spoon, knife, cup and plate. There's no reason, I feel, for one person to empty the utensils' holder in a day. That's a lot of spoons! Yet, I do it all the time. Collecting containers and utensils for my summer excursions has brought me back to trying again the one utensil life style.

The summer set up will be complete when I get are a small clip on sun shade umbrella, picnic blanket, cooler for ice, and put together a first aid kit. I already have the mosquito net hat, bug spray and sunscreen. The sun hat for this season, bought a couple of years ago, will be redecorated. A rain umbrella as a parasol for walking is also on the buy list (with the clip on shade umbrella).

Have you begun preparing for summer?

  2. It's just like summer here right now but with a nice cooling breeze. I am working on different supplies for the camper...maybe taking some plastic wear next time. Hugs!

    1. Diane,
With plastics, the best you can afford works better than the inexpensive flexible type containers.
I like the hard plastics with a good lid seal.

  3. You asked - Have you begun preparing for summer?
My answer - No, not yet!

I must admit I'm still in Spring mode, although the weather hasn't been too brilliant recently.
Perhaps May will bring a few more sunny days? We shall see.

    All the best Jan

    1. Jan,
More sunny days is what we need.
I tell myself all the rain is all right because it is filling up the aquifers.

  4. I don't even want to think about summer. I am going to try to not complain this year, though. I completely lost last summer and I'm curious if I will experience it differently this year because of that. I'm very much in spring mode - thinking/hoping to get some things planted in the garden this week.

Spring here is also at peak. The rain just makes it more special and the colors more vibrant.

  6. Yesterday our weather (until it rained later in the day) was glorious....lovely and warm. Today, it's back to single digits and rain. I would love to do picnics in the summer but RC doesn't like them, insisting that he doesn't like all the bugs. Oh well, there are lots more things to argue about so I let picnic lunchs go.

    1. Maryanne,
Maybe this year RC can compromise to have lunch at an outdoor cafe or park bench.
Sitting in the car when the sun isn't too hot is a nice picnic.

  7. I'm starting to think about planting some garden seeds - it's been rather cold and windy lately. And I'm thinking about summer, but not really doing anything serious about it. I did finish a summer blouse today and look forward to warmer days to wear it.

    1. Lorrie,
Looking at the ground, thinking of sowing the leftover seeds has been a daily thought.
It has been too chilly as yet in Vermont. I think next week will be the time I give in.

  8. The sunshade umbrella is so cheerful! I'm ready for spring. My weeds are out of control. Last week I couldn't bend but I have one week of "freedom" before the next surgery and today is sunny so guess what I'll be doing today!

Take it easy. May is a long month. In Michigan, there's more chilly days before warm ground.

  9. There's been no preparing for summer here because Spring has not yet fully arrived. However, I did transition the bedding from winter to spring/summer and also made a start on the closets.

A start of the closets are words that bring fear to my heart.
Store away winter, bring out summer clothes is the messiest time of the year for me. It can takes weeks for me to put away the little piles of save this for whatever.
