Day 145 of Week 21 May 2024

About the blog make-over...Meh.

I'm not diggin' all the empty space, small fonts, the image arrangement, and date header placement on the Soho Dark Blogger template.
However, the overall look is closer to what I want to achieve, a big open photograph when your arrive with not a lot of text and gadgets crowding in the main page.
Old Paint Rag

I have found a nice template on Btemplates.com. The learning curve to install it on Blogger will take time as the instructions are complicated. Customizing this template isn't as easy as the old one. Changing the header font thus far isn't working.

For years I've want a nice custom blog template. I think it is time I put effort into making that happen. As it goes, the process is a positive move that will help me rise up from the present slump. I managed to get more than a few hours sleep last night and today. And, I didn't need to take any allegy medicine. Yesterday was rough. I had a bad mood unpleasantry episode possess me. I'm almost back to my sweet self today.

  1. I've debated getting a custom blog template, too, but am too lazy to do it. I do like the clean look here today. Glad you are feeling better.

    1. Thank you, Lorrie.
      Getting enough sleep does wonders.

You can try changes on a practice blog that's set on Private for the authors. I did try out the template in such a blog. Writing down the paths taken, the changes, and such is a huge help.

    1. Hena,
There hasn't been space between template searches over the years.
I found on on Wordpress, but the code isn't available. sigh

    1. Debbie,
It will be along time before I install a new template.
The learning curves are long for folks like me that haven't taken a computer course in decades.

  5. It will be fun to watch. I used to fool around with mine a lot. I have zero time lately. I will let you learn and then tell us about it:)

    1. Sandy,
Practicing on a blank private blog is safer.
This time I've been writing down the changes I make. lol

I feel better getting more done as well. Next week there's a big
haul going to the transfer station.

  7. I think it looks fine but finding the right thing is very personal. You can make your font larger over in the blogger settings as you're writing your post -- at least I can.

    1. Jeanie,
This new template looks better on a cell phone with the empty space on the right missing.
There are so many font places, it takes me time to find them all in this template's HTML.

  8. It's always nice to change the blog look once in awhile. But I do love the BIG font, as my tired eyes can read it better. I'm glad you're back to your sweet self again. And your creative blog shows it! ; )

A larger font is something I also appreciate. The color is another story. Even when black is selected, the text shows up gray, too light a gray. I use the page 3 dot > Zoom to make the text better to read.

  9. Good luck to you on your moving forward with blog changes and will also be looking forward to any recommendations. Change on my blog is something I have thought about, but not done anything about. I do have a private blog under another title and plan to resume "playing" with that one as well as creating another one for which I already have a selected topic and collected photos.

Also glad to read you have been feeling better. Right now, I am feeling a bit sleep-deprived after our travels and catching up at home. Obviously more rest is needed in my future too 😴

    1. Beatrice,
For now, there won't be any changes for a few weeks. I need to get use to this format before moving on anywhere else.
Your travels are fun to read about! Get your rest

  11. It looks nice, May. Sometimes I consider playing around with changing up my blog, but I don't feel like I have the brain power for it. You make me think, though, that it's probably a very good for exercising the brain. I look forward to seeing what you may do.

    1. Becki,
It has to be a nice calm day without a lot of distractions for me to follow instructions on how to install a template here on Blogger. I tried it a few years ago. It annoyed me beyond reason. Changes in the future will happen slowly. :)
