Heat, Milkweed & Hilary Please

Milkweed

Hot was yesterday when it was muggier than it is today around noon time, Yet, today is forecast to be hotter than yesterday, On the deck for a short time, I get the sense that today will be hotter in an intense hot sun way.
There is a thick blue haze in the distant Adirondack Mountains. There were some very light sprinkles of rain on the ride over to Upstate New York, Fort Frederic. The atmosphere reminds me of the beach, Atlantic Ocean beach.
To my amazement, I can smell the beautiful scent of milkweed flowers.  As I posted, after the 2022 covid booster, I lost 95% of my sense of smell and taste.

The view of Lake Champlain, as I drank coffee, was soothing despite all the haze. Anyway, I ache all over  The fibromyalgia has been more of a bother for the last few weeks. I'm use to it. When my mood is meh, it bothers me more, It is as if my body is telling me...You don't care about anything!? I'll give you something to care about!

A new hunt for something is about to begin sometime this afternoon. I forget where I stored my iron. I have a idea, but as yet i am not up to clearing away things to get to that location.  This summer for me may turn out to be named, The summer of the Hunt.

It was interesting showing up at the US Post Office this morning to find the doors locked. No mail delivery today. Today is now a federal holiday, Juneteenth.

Watching the Tony Awards the other night, Hilary Clinton was a presenter. At that very moment, I was hoping she is going to announce she is running for president again. Mind you, I am not a Democrat nor do I follow the 34 guilty verdict criminal or the party platform. I think I am leaning towards being an independent who really wants a good clear mind president.

No new computer yet. I'm in no hurry.

  1. Your weather sounds to have been so different from ours. It's not muggy (glad to say) but we have had a great deal of cool and rainy weather that is quite unseasonal. I am really glad that you have regained some sense of smell. I hope the rest will come back eventually. We have elections here in UK on 4 July. The country is largely united against the present government who are venal and incompetent. So I am looking forward to a change of people at the top - the one likely to get in is certainly clear headed and very clever, and also seems to have a sense of social responsibility. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he really is like that!

  2. I have a milkweed waiting to bloom here so I can see some Monarchs come to it. My butterfly bush is starting to bloom and am loving that. With this heat I have been filling my birdbath twice and even three times a day now. It was so humid today it so hazy. UGH Janice

    1. Janice,
A birdbath can provide a lot of fun watching the feather friends splashing around! There's one milkweed plant near my front porch. I put a fence by it for protection as some folks like to pull them up as a weed.

  3. Outdoor walks are limited now because of the heat, but thank goodness there is an air conditioned gym with treadmills in the ill apts. Of course, there is not the scent of flowers there. Waiting to decide what PC you want is a good plan as long as there is no big rush.

    1. Beatrice,
My plan is to save $ on a small screen laptop I can connect to a large screen monitor. I'm using a 15 inch laptop now. After the bigger PC monitor, I know the larger size will be much easier for me.
No outdoor walk at the moment here. There is a downpour out there now.

  4. I don’t think I’ve ever smelled milkweed. I don’t remember ever seeing it either.

    1. Marie,
The scent of milkweed is sweet and subtle, very pleasant.
It grows everywhere on the side of the road and meadow here.

  5. I wish Hilary would run. I love Joe -- he has good ideas, his heart and moral core are solid. But I don't know that he can pull it off in this very odd year. The milkweed is wonderful but best of all is that you have some smell! YAY!

    1. Jeanie,
If all those folks crying when Hilary lost get behind her to run, then maybe America has a chance this fall.

  6. I have a small cabinet for my vitamins. Maybe you could make a small space, so you won't forget where you stored them? I know that's one of the things that we do as we age. I just saw a picture and quote on a friend's blog about forgetting why they came in the room. That's about right. Pretty photo of the milkweed, and the sky is interesting and lovely.

I have my vitamins and minerals in a kitchen drawer. They are one of the few things I rarely forget.
Good grief, it looks like a hurricane out my window at the moment. Sideways blowing rain.

    1. Maryanne,
Calling milkweed a weed never made any sense to me.
The pods are a favorite part of autumn.
