Caution: Politcal Post

Dead Creek Boat Launch 2017

Does 2017 fee like a long time ago?
The day in July 2017 that I took that photograph of the Dead Creek boat launch along Route 17 in Addison, Vermont, there was a Monarch butterfly fluttering around the area behind me. It was a gorgeous bright sunny day with no wind.
On the left behind me in the woods area, there was a wild type of apply tree with ripe fruits. It was a beautiful tree with white blossoms in the spring.
Wild Type of Apples 2017

After I posted about it here, when I returned, the tree looked like somebody had poured bleach on one side, half tree dead, other half living. I didn't see it blossom again. I think the last time I looked, the tree is dead. I stopped posting about trees after two more over the years that I posted about became damaged.

Nature changes the landscape more than humans do. Our long term damage, however, doesn't recover as well a Nature's own repairs.

The World feels like that poor tree, especially in America. On one front, nobody stirred up things to bring about chaos and violence. On the other hand, violence is supported and encouraged by a political figure who is now suffering from the sick actions of another.

And now I hear in the news report maybe it is time to stop the political violence.
The hypocrisy is nauseating.
Face it, the former president that lost the last election will win the presidential election this year. A man strongly supporting and encouraging violence, will be our next president.
It isn't a matter of you get what you paid for or even be careful what you wish for.
It is what we have supported to be the leadership and atmosphere in America, and the World.
There are at least 2 American women, Clinton and Obama, who can run for president of America and win.
I have no doubt about that.

As it is with the choices we have, Vote!
Do no harm.
Don't play the blame game.
Don't get sucked into conspiracy theories.

  1. Hear, hear. I was stunned by the hypocrisy of the aftermath -- when those who supported a man who ignited an insurrection, who called out Proud Boys, who referred to a bloodbath -- said the other side was the one with the bad rhetoric, going so far as to blame the administration for the assassination attempt. You called it out well. I would agree that the rhetoric on both sides gets intense -- but possibly more by media (at least on the left) than the candidates.

We absolutely have to be honest about the implications of this election, the candidates and perhaps most important, the ideas their platforms and administrations promote. I think there is a very real possibility that neither candidate will live another four years with any capacity at all (even if they live). But their ideas will continue in whichever administration comes in.

Your analogy to the tree is exquisite. And profoundly sad.

    1. Jeanie,
You state it well yourself. Great comment!

When a major news reporter during a special telecast was talking about trump as a man who supports nonviolence mades me feel like I am on another planet. She needs to be fired for incomptency.
Biden reminds me of elderly folks who refuse to accept they have lost the ability to understand they no longer have the capacity to make sound decisions.
And here he has enablers who are as weak in common sense as he is.

  2. Great post! Violence has no place in society. Leaders who encourage it deserve defeat! The world is on edge!

    1. Marie,
Spot on, leaders that encourage violence do deserve to lose.
      Thank you

  3. The politcal situation seems to be in a turmoil everywhere with what's happening in the US the worst and the most terrifying to contemplate. I can't claim to understand much of what's happening in the US but it was said somewhere the other day that only there can a convicted felon run for president and not be taken to task for it. Having said that, Canada is also teetering on the edge with Trudeau having lost the confidence of the country. The man/party poised to take the next election is a mini-Donald in his views and we're very much afraid of what's to come here too. I agree that either Clinton or Michelle Obama would be wonderful president but can they be convinced to take it on.

    1. Maryanne,
It is unreal, and a huge embarrassment what America is going through with the criminal presidential candidate. All sides of the aisle are his victims.

    1. Cathy,
      You aren't alone.
Awful choices for sure. It is even more heart breaking there are people that could run and win that don't love America enough to try.
