Hello Autumn 2024

Vermont Early Autumn

Addison, Vermont Autumn

Going through photo files yesterday, I chose a few to post here this week.

The last image would make for a nice leftover paint painting.

Each year I like to take pictures of the same places for comparison.

Maybe a 2024 change is in order to venture out to new places.

Allergies this season have been a bother most days. Since I got the first shingles shot, I've been sleeping sounder than usual. It is weird.

I've been sadly looking at the soups when grocery shopping. My heart aches because I've decided to have homemade soup only. I might buy chicken broth though.

Are you a homemade souper or easy can person?

  1. I'm a home made soup person. Canned taste too salty for me.

  2. I love making homemade soups and cannot wait for the cooler weather to get out those recipes. My crockpot is my best friend. Beautiful Autumn scenery. Janice

    1. Janice,
Making room for the crockpot is a good way to start the fall season!

  3. Homemade soup here most often. I love soup to have on a picnic this time of year.

    Those are great photos.

    Have a great week!

Your beef stew in a thermos picnic photo from a few years ago is an image I always think of when planning a picnic in the cooler weather.

  5. I'm a "both" person. I love a good homemade soup but sometimes I see soups that I wouldn't be likely to make and I'll buy those. Love that you go through old pix for painting ideas. Sometimes we forget the treasure trove we have at hand.

    1. Jeanie,
Have you taken a count for the number of photos you've taken.
It is probably well over 10 thousand.
I'm beginning to wonder how many pictures of clouds I have. lol

  6. Wow - that tree looks as though it's on fire! Great photo!
As for soup - it's always homemade here although RC does add canned soup to a few different recipes. Pretty much the only ones we keep on hand are cream of mushroom and cream of chicken. Sometimes we have the mushroom one on toast.

    1. Maryanne,
Yes, cream soups I also keep on hand for recipes, mushroom, chicken and the celery. A dish I use to make a lot is a layer of boneless chicken, cream of mushroom soup, plus a half or full can of water, topped with dressing croutons drizzled with butter.

  7. aahh, there is your beautiful Fall in Vermont. I look forward to seeing your seasons each year. That tree outside your window is so vibrant. Well, homemade soups are the best, but I do love a good minestrone canned soup.

Wishing you pleasant October days ahead.

  8. Beautiful colourful photos. I'm a homemade souper too, though not a recipe follower. It's bottom of the fridge soup here, sometimes it's swamp green soup and sometimes more orange squash depending on the veg I need to use up ;o) It always seems to taste good though and it's never the same twice. Best wishes.
