Hello Mid October
Route 125 Green Mountain National Forest October 2024 |
The foliage has slid past peak in the upper elevations of Vermont. There is some color showing still at mid elevations, but I don't see the full bouquet of color as last week. Gorgeous scenery just the same.
A full day's foliage photography tour for me didn't happen for various reasons. Pollen has been quite a bother this year. Finally, I bought a store brand nasal spray. The Kinney pharmacist was a help explaining the difference between allergy spray from the spray I was looking for, (a cleansing saline spray). I stopped taking the allergy medication that makes me too sleepy to do much but laze around. The nasal spray is a big help.
I've been painting and puttering most days. The majority of summer clothes are packed away. The winter puffer coat is in the closet. The mittens and gloves are in the drawer. Next is clean sandals and get out closed toe shoes for inspection. I have a pair of lace up boots from 1999 that I know leak when it rains.
The one part of the foliage tour I will save to do is going to a nice diner for breakfast. Vermont is so beautiful, there is always scenery to enjoy. The importance of travel shouldn't be raked up with the fall leaves. Changing one's scenery now and then is, I feel, is healthy.
That road looks like it would be a very scenic drive. We have a road her in Michigan where we call it the tunnel of trees. Lots of folks like to drive it too for the fall foliage. Janice
ReplyDeleteJanice,
DeleteA tunnel of trees sounds magical!
That section of Rt 125 going up to Ripton Vermont is very windy with a steep drop off to the river. There are pockets of stunning foliage patches along the way.
Changing scenery like the changing seasons offers fresh perspectives on the world. I like your idea of going to a diner for breakfast one day.
ReplyDeleteLorrie,
DeleteA nice breakfast at a diner on a frosty morning is like a mini community gathering.
Vermont is beautiful in the fall foliage. You are well into winter preparation!
ReplyDeleteMarie,
DeleteThe going is slow turning over from warm to cold seasons.
I'm looking at my pie pumpkins thinking oven. I think I need to buy more.
The changing foliage in Vermont must be a sight to behold, even as it slips past peak. It's good to hear that the nasal spray is helping with the pollen. Packing away summer clothes and getting ready for the colder weather is a true sign that autumn is in full swing. A breakfast at a nice diner sounds like the perfect way to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Melody,
DeleteThank you for the link. I just returned from you blog.
More reading to do, but I'm on board with a good face cream.
Maywyn hubby and I enjoyed such a lovely visit to your state in September. There was some color beginning but am certain so much more was to come. You live in a beautiful state and the Green Mountains are so lovely. We traveled through the quaint town of Woodstock. Just a gorgeous place...unfortunately didn't get photos because we needed to get to White River Junction before dark. Take care friend and have a lovely October day. Hope you have something yummy with delectable Maple Syrup for breakfast. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteDebbie,
DeleteWoodstock is a beautiful place.
While it can be pricey, there's a lot to do there. I'm glad you had a chance to see some of beautiful New England.
Hugs!
Lovely autumnal photos ~ even with 'sandals' on ~ lol ~ hugs,

DeleteNext week is forecast warmer. Sandals weather!
Painting and puttering most days sounds relaxing.
ReplyDeleteI'm finding October days pass by quite quickly.
All the best Jan
Jan,
DeleteI agree, October days do pass quickly.
I think the bare branches and anticipating Halloween rush the weeks along.
I always enjoyed foliage time in Vermont, it's so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBill,
DeleteThe colors have been vibrant this year, especially the reds. Even some oak trees have upped their colors.
painting and puttering are good. sorry you missed your fall foliage outing!! we have yet to hit prime viewing!!
ReplyDeleteDebbie,
DeleteI did get out for short trips, lunch in the car, watching a chipmunk.
Now that we are home from our travels, I'm hoping to get a nice walk in this weekend. Going away is fun, but catching up seems to take longer especially as we both came home with cold symptoms (not the other way around"C"). Vermont is indeed lovely in the fall as we have enjoyed many areas in past years.
ReplyDeleteBeatrice,
DeleteNew Hampshire is a stunning state any time of year, but especially in the autumn.
Glad y'all are home. Prayers for Good Health
