A view from the sofa

Thankful I be that from the sofa, I can see fall foliage color out my window. It would have been a rainy boring day without that sliver of autumn to lift my spirits.*

The sun umbrella reminds me that summer still needs to be put away. A bird feeder needs to go up. (Birds began to show up last week.)
I use a sled to bring old planters and stuff to the dumpster. There’s a couple of petunias still blooming. I think the hummingbird is long gone. Once there’s a hard frost, the blooms will be gone as well.

There’s no denying that cold weather is creeping in. It has snowed in Maine already. Chances of mountain snow is in the forecast for parts of Vermont.

Check windshield wiper fluid, shovel and ice melt in trunk, and an extra pair of gloves in the console. Stock up on canned goods. Keep a watch for soup on sale. Take out the crock pot. Make an apple crisp and freeze half.

* Pulled muscle is better after that day
of rest. Sore, but less so. Adding another slow day
to the healing.

    1. Linda,
This week is crockpot opening week. 😂
It has been ages since I made beef stew or mire pore broth.

  3. I think you get the snow and cold before we do here. It's good that you are making sure you are prepared for the winter months. I hope your pulled muscle heals quickly. Those can be so painful.

    1. Sheri,
There was a hard frost last night here in Vermont. The impatiens are drooping as expected.
Resting is the way to go with a strained muscle. It does help.

  5. I was glad to see your footnote - that the day of rest on the sofa was beneficial. It's getting colder here, too, and I do hope we get some snow this year, but that won't be for a long while yet.
Preparing the car and the house for winter is important.

    1. Lorrie,
I just watch a Canadian RV Youtuber touring Vancouver Island.
I smiled thinking, that’s where Lorrie lives. 😂

  6. Being forced to spend time on the sofa certainly is made better when there's a nice view. Getting ready for winter will take another step later this week when we take our car in for the tire and oil change. Sadly we know we're going to have to fork over the big bucks for a set of new tires - not a process I relish having to go through.

    1. Maryanne,
Prayers for a good tire deal.
I’m shopping tires myself. Online, the websites aren’t all easy
      to use.

  7. Those are such good tips as we prepare for winter and extra good to remember them now! Not when it has already arrived!
