Cell Phone Finger

Cell Phone Finger

Really? Is there such a thing?

Yes. You probably do have one if you hold your cell phone in your hand a lot.

I notice on my left pointing finger, on the outer side, a roughish dry area. I am right handed.

I didn't realize until today the patch is callous from holding my cell phone! The device rests from the middle finger joint up to the side of the fingernail.

Searching the Internet, I read there can be a callous area on the pinky finger as well. Think sliding pinky under for stability.

There are finger guards online for sale. Gamers use them. Sewers use them. Office workers use them.

I think I will make and bead a few to wear as jewelry.

Week 15, Day 101 of April 2023

Pals Hanging Out In the Sunshine

Near mid April 2023, the temperature outdoors is on the rise. Planters wait to be filled. Sandals are at the ready. Summer plans are scribbled down via spring's enthusiasm for possibilities.

Are you a planner? Do you make lists, pack up brochures, surf the Internet for information? Plan your wardrobe?

In my old spiral notebooks, (before removing the wire to add to a lampshade form), I can read a few years worth of summer fun ideas. Revising them is bittersweet because too many plans sadly, didn't happen. The pandemic created too many pauses in my daydreams.

This, I believe, will be the first post pandemic summer starting on 21 June 2023. Masks, hand washing and such will still be part of our lives, but on a less urgent level. Taking precautions is wise living.

Now there are other viruses, bacteria, diseases, bugs and so on to be very cautious about. Oy vey!

Pansies

The USDA chart
has 5 zones in Vermont.
I live in the western edge
southward  for zone 5a.
I bought two pansy 6 packs.*
I've seen snow on pansies.

Check your zone before planting.

Community, Crocus & Fund Raisers

Along the Way
There is good food out there at community fund raisers. Check your local newspaper event calender for the information. Ordering may be required. Take out is often an option at the sit down meals.

The local meals I've ordered are wonderful, good portions as well.

🌷

The better weather of spring is pushing up color, crocus grape hyacinths. A walk this time of year has a unique feeling of renewal. New flowers through soil or mulch have a dermination to want to see the sunshine as much as we do. Seasonal vibes can encourage energy from flowers, and from us.

Clearing away branches I put near the bird seed for cover, I found dark purple crocus already blooming. I was so busy, I didn't stop to take photos.

The picture above was taken along the sidewalk when I was out and about.

I expect to do more raking and planter arranging soon. Ambient temperatures of 70°F plus are the weather forecast here in Vermont this week.

The Pumpkin: Inner Joy & Fascination

Pumpkins are a time capsule for childhood memories, gatherings, holidays, family fun, Nature, meals, and creativity.

We admire pumpkins, I think, more than any other vegetable or fruit except for the apple.

Pumpkins are in a variety of colors and shapes.  The orange pumpkin is the icon of the patch.

The image for this blog was easy to chose. Pumpkins are a favorite next to the pine tree and cannoli.

Researching this feature, right away the majority of search results focus on fun images, Halloween and children. The keywords, pumpkin find art will bring up few paintings. If you want to see lovely pumpkin paintings, then add Wyeth to the search.

How Is Your Week Going?

As the first week of April nears closing, I find myself more in need of open air, inspiring landscapes, good news, less sugar and thoughts of days not crowded with disgust and fear.

Imagine, an accomodation request is received, acknowledged, applicant told request is reasonable, a sign will go up soon, but it not only didn't happen, eight years later the applicant is told that accomodation doesn't exist.

The reasonable accommdation  based on disability is a regulated process under the 1990 Americans With Disabilities Act.

The situation is an example of what I feel, many people encounter in various ways every day. Some incidents are regulated by law, and some, I believe, aren't. If a person has issues with a decision, then there are  procedures to access to resolve the problem. I do believe there are peaceful options to disputes.

The added snag is when a person of lesser power, already suffering in some way that impacts their health, has the burden of making phone calls, putting together documentation, and then waiting for another probable round of hassles. It is no wonder to me that some people give up, let it go out of fear of retaliation or just can't take it anymore.

Here is what I'd like...
Civil Advocates, a group that knows the right route to resolution, and has the clout to get it done.
I haven't found such a group.

What there is...

Lawyers. Getting a lawyer to represent you can be a hassle in itself. I don't think there are lawyers sitting by the phone waiting for clients to be nice to for nothing, but may be worth the free consultation, if they have one.

Agencies and such. Again, might be a hassle, but still may be worth the effort.

Ombudsman or Arbitrator. Might be slow, a hassle to get in place, but sources worth considering.

Whatever choice, have your ducks in a row aka all the pertinent documentation, dates, time, letters, calls, texts, emails, conversations and such. Consider opting for emails instead of phone call for proof and to keep things clear.

Eight years and counting...

The U.S. Constitution vs Social Media

Think about it...

The Founding Fathers had no Internet or no social media.

The 1st Amendment weeps when people use it to stir up violence and hatred.

If there are people that don't see what a danger it is to society that there are no laws in place to stop a person or persons from using the Internet to rally others to engage in violence, then it is crucial that the CDC begins a serious investigation as to how the STUPID virus infected so many Americans.

Does it spread so rapidly through telepathy?

By using the Internet?

Cell phones?

Air frequencies?

The media?
