Day 292 of Week 42 October 2024

An Autumn Maple Leaf

A Rambling today

This week has been all about moving furniture, stuff and memories. Each area I sort has the past rising up like sugar dust when the bag is empty. The best is finding artwork. Those memories are the strongest. My poems, prose and stories are next except with those, there are some I read with no recollection of the original idea. There are a few rare ones I don't remember writing.

What does all that bring me? I've been pondering that question when I look around the room without seeing the clutter. Freedom, I guess, is what has been brought to my life. However, being organized is mentally healthy only to a point. There is the stage where clutter is comforting.

🍁

On the news scene, I'm unhappy as well as worried that online folks think it is more important to make fun of the 34felon that to praise Kamala Harris.  I believe that is a stupid waste of time to want laughs over helping America stop 34felon from being elected.

Please, post good things about Harris!

Vote Harris Walz

What else? Oh, the NOAA 2024-2025 winter forecast is for a warmer and wetter winter in the Northeastern United States. That is for me a trip to anxiety city because it means there will be conditions that create ice. I am not a fan of icy winters.

Hello Mid October

Route 125
Green Mountain National Forest
October 2024

The foliage has slid past peak in the upper elevations of Vermont. There is some color showing still at mid elevations, but I don't see the full bouquet of color as last week. Gorgeous scenery just the same.

A full day's foliage photography tour for me didn't happen for various reasons. Pollen has been quite a bother this year. Finally, I bought a store brand nasal spray. The Kinney pharmacist was a help explaining the difference between allergy spray from the spray I was looking for, (a cleansing saline spray).  I stopped taking the allergy medication that makes me too sleepy to do much but laze around. The nasal spray is a big help.

I've been painting and puttering most days. The majority of summer clothes are packed away. The winter puffer coat is in the closet. The mittens and gloves are in the drawer. Next is clean sandals and get out closed toe shoes for inspection. I have a pair of lace up boots from 1999 that I know leak when it rains.

The one part of the foliage tour I will save to do is going to a nice diner for breakfast. Vermont is so beautiful, there is always scenery to enjoy. The importance of travel shouldn't be raked up with the fall leaves. Changing one's scenery now and then is, I feel, is healthy.

The leaf & Me

Day 285 of Week 41 October 2024

Robert Frost Interpretative Trail
October 2022

Well folks, this is it, foliage time, leaf peeping season, the peak of all that is autumnal. Coffee on foggy mornings, frosty cobwebs, pumpkin spice muffins, and birds flying by that don't have time to stop and chat. With all that is going on in the World at home and abroad, embrace the Nature of your heart to enjoy the fall.

My thoughts, after taking out winter clothes and putting away most of summer fashions, are on sweaters. I browsed online this morning. I found two I really like on sale. I thought about the extra load of laundry, and, the fact that I do not need another sweater. I didn't buy. I went on my merry way.
