| Foliage colors changing |
In some areas, the trees are still mostly green. In the mountains after peak foliage has gone by, the lower elevation valley can be full of color, a sort of second autumn.
Today there is a lot of rain passing through. The ambient temperatures being lower adds to the feeling this fall is unlikely to have a second summer (warm weather spell).
This time of year spices are a strong element as folks joke about pumpkin spice lattes. The aroma of cinnamon scents the brain with thoughts of baked apples and visiting quaint country stores.
Picking apples and pumpkin hunting are nice excursions separate on their own from the trips out to leaf peeping.
An additional element to fall can be found at YouTube channels dedicated to tours of New England towns, woods and popular peak foliage locations. The walking tour videos with no voice narrations can be very relaxing. The videos are also handy for traveling, to get a feel for the area.
Happy Autumn!

A beautiful celebration of Autumn! Thank you so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLinda,
DeleteThe Youtube videos are a surprise how relaxing they are. The videos for Woodstock and Stowe
Vermont are favorites.

We are having Summer temps right now. Even had a thunderstorm roll in this morning. Not much color here yet. Loved going to one of the farms here and bought some pumpkins. They had all kinds of colors. Janice
ReplyDeleteJanice,
DeleteThe storms there passed through Vermont today. Lots of
rain but no thunderstorms in my area. We had one warm day
yesterday at 68°F. It was wonderful.

Our week ranged from 40s at night and 50s in the day to mid-70s! (I liked those days better!)
ReplyDeleteJeanie, Those are nice temperatures.
DeleteA light jacket or a raincoat is the weather here in Vermont in the Champlain Valley.

You describe fall in a way that awakens the senses. Here in my town not much changes with the colors or even the feel of fall. It just gets colder and wetter with the ocean so close. Have a lovely day today.
ReplyDeleteNicole,
DeleteLiving near the ocean is a lovely environment.

Most of the leaves fell in the heavy rain and wind we got earlier in the week so it's starting to look dull outside our windows. There's still some colour around town but it's getting less and less. I really wish the town would see fit to plant some maples in the park between us and the river because then there'd be some nicer colours.
