Reflection Monday November 2023

What do you do when something comes at you out of nowhere?

It feels to me that we are sometimes like old cans on a fence, about to know a rock from a slingshot.

I was looking back at this first Monday of the month feature that began in December 2013, ten years ago next month. I read a post, in draft now, that I wrote on 11 September 2013. An excerpt:

It is important to know what is about you, know those moments that are yours, how they are yours and why they are yours. Ownership isn't always easy to determine if we are not seeing what is there or not knowing. Intuition can guide us only so far. Even the best at it can miss a cue.

Those words fit into what is going on in the World today, and so do these:

I pray that people in power know where they stand...I pray they listen to all sides...

Please, think hard on what you believe, what you understand, and what you are willing to support.

Sun Shining on the Floor Is Not Good For Fallen Gray Hair

Disclaimer...I am attempting to be humorous about aging.

Any day now I will not be surprised to read about a study that seeing gray hair on the floor when the sunsines through the window means you have a ten percent chance of passing away early in the morning.

It feels like every time I am happy with something or notice something about the stages of aging I am going through, there's a blankety-blank blank study that indicates it  may cause a stroke, heart attack or takes ten years off my life. It is getting so the older I become, the less likely all that will matter. I may not have ten years to deduct.

I need my greasy crisp food! I can't go without a crunch for long. Celery and carrots don't count. I want the flavor of grease and spices in my food sometimes. And another thing, fruit sorbet will never replace coffee ice cream!

After getting the new covid booster shot the other day, today is the first time I can use my right arm without discomfort. Last night I was feeling poorly. Today I feel fine. I don't know what happened. Sleep maybe?

I should be at the canvas painting today. Sorry it is taking me so long to get really started on the fall series. This is Friday. For me it feels like Tuesday.

Have a Crunchy Comfy Weekend!

Sing anything you feel like singing
Cook apple pancakes
Draw a map of your ideal town
Tell a brick a funny story
Make a fun mask
Mark up a tee shirt with weather symbols
Consider going to church
Pray for Peace

Farewell Rainy June 2023

28 June 2023, 8:17 PM EDT
over Vermont

A glance out the window in late afternoon captured my attention the other day because the sky was a hazy smokey color. The setting sun glows through the clouds making the sky appear as a very pale yellow hue.
It is an eerie sky to see.
I didn't read or see smoke alerts from the Canada forest fires until the next day.
Air moves as it moves.
The smoke flow map shows the area where I live in Vermont as moderate.
Okay.

Have a Smokeless Weekend!

Pray for Peace
Think about Peace
Talk about Peace
Make Peace when you can
Tell Old Glory
a true story about Peace

Yellow In Flight

At Noon, 5"x7" watercolor

From dewy lanes at morning
The grapes' sweet odors rise;
At noon the roads all flutter
With yellow butterflies.

from the poem, "September"
by Helen Hunt Jackson
1830 ~ 1885

At this New England latitude, in the Northern Hemisphere, there are 4 seasons, winter, spring, summer, and fall.
By color, I believe there are 5 seasons:
White-snow
Chartreuse-new plant growth
Yellow-summer sunshine
Orange-autumn foliage
Gray-bare tree branches

Color illuminates  shades of ourselves a gray scale shapes. Line. Contour. Direction.
A lemon gives me permission to like yellow. Sunshine, a reason to smile. Art, the encouragement to love Peace over war.

Reflection Monday December 2014

Many years ago a tradition in my home began with no arguing during the holiday season. You can disagree. Your can voice your opinion in a courtesy tone of voice.
You can't snarl, shout, shake a fist, swear or demonstrate anger towards another person.
The signal to stop when an argument begin is..."No, we can't do this (argue)."
And we don't, usually followed by an... Oh I forgot ...and laughter on both sides.

Let the commitment to Peace and Love be the template of your Life.
